The Indiana Department of Insurance issued Bulleting 274 - Policy Cancellation Moratorium on March 25, 2024, calling on all insurers to implement a 60-day moratorium for cancellation of any insurance policy in effect for any policyholder directly affected by the Disaster Events residing within the Impacted Areas, and a suspension of any penalty attached to the late payment therein. This is following the recent tornadoes and severe storms (Disaster Events) occurring on March 14, 2024 in Delaware, Jefferson, and Randolph counties (Impacted Areas). The moratorium only extends the period in which to pay the premium and applies only to cancellations/non-renewals attributed to failure to pay premiums directly as a result of the Disaster Events during the 60-day period. An extension may be requested by the Department if deemed appropriate.
